Riot Games, a leading name in game development, has recently elevated David Mulhall to the position of Global Head of Esports Partnerships and Business Development. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering the company's efforts in expanding its partnership network across its various esports ventures.

In his new role, Mulhall will oversee a global team focused on both enriching Riot Games' existing partnerships and attracting new collaborations. These partnerships span across popular titles such as League of Legends, VALORANT, and Teamfight Tactics, at both global and regional event levels.

Since joining Riot Games in 2020, Mulhall has played a pivotal role in shaping the partnership strategy for the VALORANT Champions Tour's inaugural season. His efforts have led to renewed and expanded agreements with major brands like Red Bull, Mastercard, and AWS.

Mulhall brings a wealth of experience from previous roles, including Director of Corporate Partnerships for the NBA's Sacramento Kings and its esports division, Kings Guard. His background also includes significant stints in sponsorship positions within Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL) and the Supercars Championship motorsport series.

The recent months have seen Riot Games successfully attracting notable brands to its esports portfolio. In January 2024, the company announced significant partnerships with Hewlett Packard (HP) brands HyperX and OMEN, as well as a collaboration with Kia America for the 2024 LCS season.

John Needham, President of Esports at Riot Games, commented on the promotion, stating, "David has been instrumental in forging longstanding partnerships with premier brands that support our mission to deliver top-tier esports events globally. We are more committed than ever to enhancing partner opportunities that not only offer great value but also enhance the esports viewing experience for our fans."

Needham further emphasized Mulhall's deep understanding of and passion for the esports communities as crucial for the successful integration of partners into Riot Games’ broadcasts and events, ensuring that partnerships resonate authentically with audiences.
