This comes after a remarkable year in which Vancouver Surge made three Grand Finals appearances and secured a second-place finish at the Esports World Cup, falling just short against OpTic Gaming in the final. The franchise’s consistency throughout the season marked a high point since their 2024 rebranding from Seattle Surge, making this sudden reset all the more surprising to fans.

The released players  Jovan ‘04’ Rodriguez, Byron ‘Nastie’ Plumridge, Travis ‘Neptune’ McCloud, and Jordan ‘Abuzah’ François  now enter the free agent market, each seeking new opportunities to continue their careers at the top level. Meanwhile, coach Ray ‘Rambo’ Lussier has also departed, with intentions to explore other coaching roles within the Call of Duty League.

On social media, the organisation expressed gratitude to its departing roster, stating, “Thank you for your dedication, passion, and hard work that delivered memories we will never forget. From clearing the slate to raising the tide, we will aim high on building a new wave for the Surge.”
