The Call of Duty League Championship 2025 is approaching fast, and Vancouver Surge enters the tournament as one of the most exciting teams to watch. With strong performances throughout the Black Ops 6 season and a roster that has evolved with purpose, the Canadian franchise is ready to make its mark at Championship Weekend on home soil.
Vancouver Surge has been through a season of changes and challenges. After beginning the year with a different lineup, the team reshaped its core and brought in Neptune, a rising talent from the Challengers circuit who joined in February. His addition brought an immediate boost in momentum, helping the team rise from inconsistent results to Grand Final appearances at both Major 2 and Major 3.
The current roster features Jovan ‘04’ Rodriguez, Jordan ‘Abuzah’ François, Byron ‘Nastie’ Plumridge, and Travis ‘Neptune’ McCloud. Each player brings a unique skill set and a history of success in regional or international competitions. 04 has been with the team since its Seattle Surge days, while Abuzah made his name in European Challengers before becoming one of the few Belgian pros in CDL history. Nastie, a veteran from the UK scene, provides versatile support, and Neptune’s explosive arrival this season has added firepower and speed to the lineup.
Vancouver’s season was defined by highs and lows. They started with modest placements at Major 1 but quickly surged forward, finishing second at Major 2 after pushing the dominant Atlanta FaZe to a thrilling series. They carried that momentum into Major 3, taking down Atlanta in a revenge match before facing the Los Angeles Thieves in another Grand Final. Although they fell short again with a 4 0 loss, back to back final appearances cemented Vancouver as a serious contender.
Major 4 proved to be a hurdle, with an early exit following a narrow loss to the Las Vegas Falcons. Still, the franchise enters Champs Weekend with a renewed focus and experience gained from a turbulent but impressive campaign. Vancouver’s first match at the championship will be against the Miami Heretics, a team known for upsets and strong regional play. A win here could set up a dramatic rematch with the LA Thieves and give Vancouver the redemption arc it needs.
The franchise is owned by Enthusiast Gaming and Canucks Sports & Entertainment and has roots tracing back to Luminosity Gaming. Since joining the CDL in 2019, they have yet to win a title, but 2025 might finally be their year. With talent, chemistry, and the backing of a passionate Canadian fan base, Vancouver Surge could surprise everyone and lift their first championship trophy.
