According to claims by Twitter user Kurakasis, Take-Two Interactive is on the brink of announcing a new installment in the Mafia game series. Known for uncovering early details about games through trademark filings, Kurakasis’s track record includes early scoops on titles like Metro Awakening, Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, and Marvel’s 1943: Rise of Hydra.

The anticipation builds as last year's job posting revealed that the next Mafia title, described as an 'unannounced multi-platform game,' is in the early stages of development using Unreal Engine 5. Although labeled 'pre-production,' the game’s progress suggests that it might still be a few years away from hitting the market. However, the upcoming announcement could soon provide eager fans with the game’s name, thanks to new trademark details.

This forthcoming Mafia iteration aims to surpass its predecessors by incorporating intricate 'engagement stealth and combat gameplay loops,' promising an evolution from Mafia 3's straightforward stealth mechanics.

In addition, Kotaku revealed in May 2022 that the game is set to be a prequel, taking place in Sicily, the historic homeland of the mafia, and unfolding long before the events of the first game where players stepped into the shoes of Tommy Angelo in the 1930s.
