Resident Evil Heads to Switch 2
Capcom made the announcement during the latest Nintendo Direct, confirming that the next chapter of the survival horror saga will arrive on Nintendo’s upcoming console. Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in the series, will headline the release, launching on the same day as Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and Resident Evil Village in their Gold Edition formats.
This marks a significant step for Nintendo players, as previous versions of Biohazard and Village were only accessible on the first Switch through cloud streaming. The arrival of fully native versions on Switch 2 showcases the power of the new hardware and delivers a more immersive experience for players.
Resident Evil Requiem and the Return to Horror
First revealed at Summer Game Fest, Resident Evil Requiem will take players back into the ruins of Raccoon City. Players will step into the role of FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft as she investigates mysterious deaths linked to a new and terrifying disease.
Capcom confirmed that the game will be playable in both first and third-person perspectives, blending classic Resident Evil survival horror elements with modern gameplay mechanics. Puzzles, resource management, and intense combat sequences will remain at the heart of the experience, ensuring fans get the full franchise feel.
The Legacy of Biohazard and Village
Alongside Requiem, Switch 2 players will get access to two of the most celebrated recent Resident Evil titles. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard reinvented the series by moving to a first-person perspective and delivering one of the most terrifying horror experiences in gaming. Resident Evil Village, its direct sequel, expanded the universe further with new characters, locations, and unforgettable encounters, while continuing protagonist Ethan Winters’ story.
Both games will launch as Gold Editions, offering players the complete experience with all post-launch content.
More Resident Evil on the Way?
Industry leaks suggest Capcom is preparing additional Switch 2 ports for other Resident Evil titles built on the RE Engine, including the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4. While not officially confirmed yet, fans can expect more announcements in the near future as Capcom pushes to make Switch 2 a major platform for the series.
Launch Date and Platforms
Resident Evil Requiem, Biohazard, and Village will all release worldwide on January 27, 2026. Alongside Switch 2, Requiem will also launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, ensuring a global release across all major platforms.
Final Word
With three iconic Resident Evil titles arriving on launch day, Switch 2 players will have plenty of horror content to sink their teeth into. From the psychological terror of Biohazard to the gothic thrills of Village and the brand-new mysteries of Requiem, Capcom is delivering a survival horror feast that could define the Switch 2’s early lineup.
