Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the next entry in Nintendo’s iconic Metroid series, has given fans a reason to celebrate as it was recently rated in Brazil. The rating comes amid growing speculation that the game is close to release, signaling that players may soon step back into Samus Aran’s latest adventure.

Originally announced during E3 2017, Metroid Prime 4 has had a famously long and challenging development. The game was initially being developed by Bandai Namco Studios, but in 2019 Nintendo restarted the project with Retro Studios, which has been leading development since. Last year, the title was revealed once again under the new name Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, reigniting excitement among fans who have waited for years to see the next chapter in the series.

The recent Brazilian rating was reported by journalist Necro Felipe, who revealed that Nintendo requested a 12+ rating but the Brazilian agency issued a 14+ rating. While this does not confirm an exact release date, it is widely understood that games typically receive ratings only once they are content-complete. This strongly suggests that the launch is likely approaching and may not be far off.

This is not the first time Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been rated internationally. Last month the ESRB in the United States also rated the game, and previously the Game Rating and Administration Committee in South Korea had issued a 12+ rating for the title. The frequent international ratings point to a finalization of the game and hint that Nintendo could be preparing for a public launch.

Speculation has been further fueled by rumors from a Russian video game retailer that listed September 18 as the possible release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. In addition, there is speculation that Nintendo could use an upcoming Nintendo Direct in September to deliver a surprise announcement or shadow drop of the game. While these reports are unconfirmed, they have fans eagerly discussing potential release timelines and strategizing for their first hands-on experience with the new adventure.

Despite the excitement, it is important for fans to approach these rumors cautiously. Nintendo has not confirmed an official release date yet, but the repeated international ratings and renewed attention on the game strongly suggest that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is closer to launch than ever before.
