Ikea is rolling out its latest innovation in home decor with the introduction of the Brännboll collection, a new line of gaming furniture designed to integrate seamlessly into everyday living spaces. This fresh approach diverges from the typical dark and intense "gamer" style, opting instead for a more understated and versatile aesthetic.
The Brännboll range features 20 items, including ergonomic desks, comfortable chairs, practical accessories, and versatile storage solutions. This line follows Ikea's 2021 collaboration with ROG, which also eschewed the conventional gaming look for more subtle design elements. The Brännboll collection continues in this vein, showcasing simple, clean lines and a Scandinavian flair that Ikea is renowned for.
A key highlight of the collection is its seating options, which include an armchair that adjusts into a lounging position, a rocking chair that moves with the user’s body, and a unique inflatable donut-style chair accompanied by a matching footstool.
Further expanding its functionality, the collection includes a “gaming station” that cleverly folds into a wardrobe-like cabinet, featuring a foldable tabletop, integrated storage for a PC tower, and built-in cable management. Additionally, the range offers a multipurpose storage box that also serves as a side table, along with display shelving and soft textile accessories such as a mousepad, rug, and throw.
Ikea's new furniture line blurs the lines between traditional gaming furniture and everyday home furnishings. It is designed to support extended periods of sitting, which is essential for gaming, yet its style and functionality are suited for various home environments.
Philip Dilé, a product design developer at Ikea, explained that the Brännboll collection is inspired by street sports and athleisure, incorporating a blend of neutral and bright colors to fit modern home aesthetics. “With Brännboll, we are embracing the idea that gaming is for everyone and belongs everywhere in the home,” said Dilé. “It’s about making it simple for people to create spaces that adapt to gaming, living, and everything in between.”
The collection is designed to be inclusive for all ages, and while no pricing details are available yet, more information is expected to be released ahead of the collection's launch in September.
