In a stunning turnaround, G2 Esports delivered a commanding performance against Aurora during Stage 3 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major, dominating the match with a 13 to 4 victory on Inferno and positioning themselves just one win away from securing a playoff berth.

The match began with G2 removing Train and Anubis, while Aurora opted out of Ancient, Dust2, and Mirage. G2 also struck Nuke from the map pool, leaving Inferno as the battleground. Despite Aurora entering the stage with strong momentum and a solid reputation, they were no match for the firepower and discipline G2 brought into this game.

G2 opened aggressively, claiming the first four rounds and setting the tone for what would be a difficult evening for Aurora. While a few rounds were traded mid half, G2 closed the first half with a dominant 8 to 4 lead. Their coordination, timing, and individual execution were far more polished than anything Aurora could bring to the server.

Once the sides switched, G2 showed no signs of slowing down. They locked in a flawless defensive half, securing the next five rounds without letting Aurora take even a single one. It was a complete shutout that showcased the team's resilience, especially after struggling in events leading up to the Major.

Although huNter led the scoreboard, the real story was the collective effort. Every G2 player contributed to the team’s success, executing a strategy that overwhelmed one of the stage’s most consistent squads. This result leaves Aurora’s playoff hopes hanging by a thread. With two losses already, they now face a must win situation in all remaining matches to keep their tournament dreams alive.

The win is a much needed confidence boost for G2, who came into the tournament with plenty of questions surrounding their form. With their playoff spot now within reach, they look more focused and dangerous than ever.
