Turning Virtual Identities Into Real Ones

Flipkart’s Big Billion Days are known for wild offers and creative campaigns, but this year, the e-commerce giant took things a notch higher for the gaming community. In collaboration with BGMI, Flipkart launched the Name2Claim challenge — a playful yet daring campaign that asked gamers to make their BGMI usernames their real, legal names.

The campaign was designed around the idea that gamers don’t just play with names, they live them. From “SniperGod” to “NoobSlayer,” these quirky gamer tags are badges of pride. Flipkart’s challenge took that pride and turned it into a real-world test — how far would you go for your love of gaming?

The Challenge That Redefined Gamer Identity

To participate, gamers had to visit www.name2claim.in and submit a request to change their name officially to their BGMI username. Flipkart made the process even more real by publishing classified-style ads announcing each participant’s new identity. Those who took the leap stood a chance to win their dream gaming wishlist for free, making it one of the most creative brand activations of the year.

Pratik Shetty, Vice President of Marketing and Growth at Flipkart, said the campaign celebrated India’s growing gaming culture in true Flipkart style. “Gaming is one of the fastest-growing passions in India, and BGMI has built a community that thrives on creativity and fun. With Name2Claim, we wanted to celebrate that culture by turning something as quirky as a gamer tag into a real identity. It was a fun reminder that during Big Billion Days, yahan sach-much kuch bhi ho sakta hai,” he shared.

When Creativity Met Community

The campaign was conceptualised by DDB Mudra Group, who tapped into BGMI’s deeply passionate and humorous fan base. Gagandeep Bindra and Rahul Arcot, Group Creative Directors at DDB Mudra, explained, “BGMI fans love challenges, and they take pride in their gamer tags. So we thought, why not dare them to go all in? Name2Claim was crazy, fun, and bold — everything the gaming community stands for.”

Through the campaign, Flipkart and BGMI created an intersection of e-commerce, gaming, and social storytelling, turning a simple online sale into a viral movement. The challenge captured the spirit of India’s gaming generation, proving that sometimes, your online identity can be just as real as your offline one.

Gaming Meets Marketing Genius

What made Name2Claim stand out was how seamlessly it blended the excitement of Big Billion Days with the humor and creativity of gaming culture. It wasn’t just about winning freebies — it was about celebrating gamer identity, individuality, and the joy of community. By turning something as personal as a username into a brand story, Flipkart successfully bridged the gap between gamers and mainstream audiences.
