In one of the most unexpected moments from the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Square Enix has finally launched Final Fantasy 16 for Xbox Series X and S. The game, which was previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and later released on PC, is now officially available on Microsoft's current gen consoles from June 8, 2025. This release also includes both major DLC expansions, bringing the complete experience of Clive Rosfield's journey to Xbox players for the first time.

This long awaited release allows a whole new audience to explore the land of Valisthea. Set in a richly built world torn apart by magic, war, and mythical Eikons, Final Fantasy 16 delivers an emotionally driven narrative, fast paced combat, and cinematic storytelling. Xbox users can now dive into this experience with either the standard edition of the game or the complete edition that bundles in the Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide expansions.

For fans picking up either version, there are some added in game rewards waiting. These include exclusive weapons like the Blood Sword, Braveheart Sword, and Brave Blade, along with accessories like Cait Sith’s Charm and Sixteen Bells Orchestrion. These bonuses aim to help players enhance their combat experience from the beginning.

One of the biggest benefits of the Xbox release is support for cross progression. Players who have already started the journey on PC can continue seamlessly on their Xbox, and vice versa, without losing their progress. This offers more flexibility and convenience for those who prefer to switch between platforms.

Alongside this announcement, Square Enix also confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will arrive on Xbox consoles later in 2025. While the exact release date for the second installment, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is still unknown, fans can expect the franchise’s presence on Xbox to grow steadily moving forward.

Final Fantasy 16’s release on Xbox marks a significant shift in Square Enix’s platform strategy and is a welcome addition for Xbox gamers who have long been waiting to get their hands on the title.
