Genshin Impact’s version 5.7 is finally here, and the update is packed with new characters, quests, game modes, events, and much needed quality of life improvements. During the livestream held on June 6, 2025, HoYoverse pulled back the curtain on everything coming to the game this patch, building excitement across the community.
One of the most talked about reveals is the debut of Skirk, a long anticipated 5 star Cryo Sword user. Known in the lore as Tartaglia’s mysterious master, Skirk now steps into the spotlight as a main DPS unit. Alongside her, players will also get to meet Dahlia, a new 4 star Hydro sword wielder who specializes in shielding and attack speed buffs.
Version 5.7 splits its banners into two phases. Phase one features Skirk and Shenhe, with Dahlia joining both as the featured 4 star unit. Phase two will introduce banners for Mavuika and Emilie, expanding the roster even further. Alongside the characters comes Skirk’s signature weapon, Azurelight, which will appear on the Phase one weapon banner along with Calamity Queller.
For story lovers, version 5.7 adds a major Archon Quest titled "A Space and Time for You." This quest takes place in the Ochkanatlan region and includes appearances from Dainsleif. The storyline teases high stakes developments as players edge closer to the Traveler’s long awaited reunion with their sibling.
Skirk also receives a dedicated Story Quest, giving players a chance to delve deeper into her past. Those who complete it before a specific date will be rewarded with Primogems and useful upgrade materials.
One of the standout additions is a new permanent game mode called Stygian Onslaught. This high difficulty challenge allows players to farm artifacts with greater efficiency. It features multiple difficulty levels and supports co op play. Rewards include Primogems, Mora, Hero’s Wit, and a special new item known as Dust of Enlightenment. This item lets players reroll level 20 five star artifacts and choose between the original or newly rolled stats.
A fresh wave of in game events also drops in version 5.7. The Battle of Imagined Arrays event stands out for offering a free character, Sethos, upon completion. Other events include Fearsome Ferocious Firepower, Reminiscent Regimen: Frenzy, Travelers' Tales: Gilded Chapter, and Overflowing Abundance. Each provides generous rewards from Primogems to weapon enhancement materials.
Customization fans will be pleased with the new Echo cosmetics available for Raiden Shogun and Shenhe. Players can unlock these visual upgrades by reaching level 90 and friendship level 8 with the respective characters. Two Keys of Echoes are required to unlock each stage of the Echo.
Version 5.7 introduces notable system improvements to enhance overall gameplay. Mobile users can now choose between downloading full or basic resources, allowing for greater storage flexibility. Players can directly use Fragile or Transient Resin to claim domain rewards, and the Adventurer’s Handbook has been upgraded with detailed boss information. In Spiral Abyss, there is now an option to retry challenges more efficiently and manage party configurations with a single tap.
With a strong mix of new content, character debuts, events, and system upgrades, Genshin Impact version 5.7 delivers one of the most comprehensive updates yet. Whether you are here for the combat, the lore, or the cosmetic flair, there is something to discover in every corner of Teyvat.
