Ubisoft has announced a massive update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, introducing a third-person camera mode and New Game+ feature to elevate the gameplay experience. Scheduled for release on December 5, the update gives players the chance to explore the lush world of Pandora from a brand-new perspective, followed by a major expansion later in the month.
A new way to explore Pandora
Since its 2023 launch, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been celebrated for its immersive world-building and stunning visuals. However, players long requested a third-person option — a feature that is finally being added. Ubisoft’s developer team at Massive Entertainment has reworked core mechanics including animations, camera movement, and character control systems to make the third-person view seamless.
The update allows players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives at any time during exploration or combat, offering a more cinematic way to experience Pandora’s vast biomes and intense action sequences.
The long-awaited New Game+ mode
In addition to the new visual perspective, the update introduces a full-fledged New Game+ mode. Players can now replay the story while retaining all unlocked weapons, gear, and abilities from their previous playthrough. The feature also includes a new skill tree, tougher enemy scaling, and additional rewards for those looking to challenge themselves further.

From the Ashes expansion ties in with upcoming film
Just two weeks after the update, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will receive its next major content drop — From the Ashes, a story expansion inspired by James Cameron’s upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash. Launching on December 19, the DLC will continue the player’s journey through Pandora with new environments, enemies, and missions.
The expansion will be available across all platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders already live.
