A fresh Assassin’s Creed leak has reignited one of the franchise’s biggest rumors and fans are already jumping to one conclusion. The speculation? That Ubisoft is finally ready to lift the curtain on a full-scale remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. And based on the clues, it’s not just wishful thinking anymore.

The sequence closely matches the format of recent Assassin’s Creed titles like Mirage, Valhalla, and Shadows. But this one doesn’t match any upcoming project officially announced by Ubisoft. Why? Because it rules out known entries like Codename Hexe, which is still far from release. It can’t be Assassin’s Creed Jade either since that’s a mobile exclusive and wouldn’t show up on the PlayStation backend. It also does not resemble any downloadable content, as those use a different format entirely. The timing and format all seem to suggest one thing. A brand new standalone title.
Earlier this month, fans already noticed some suspicious changes being made to the Black Flag Steam page. Text updates, hidden files, and backend tweaks hinted that Ubisoft was up to something.
