A New Era for Multiplayer

One of the standout reveals was the debut of Overload, an all-new multiplayer mode for Black Ops 7. Teams fight for control of a powerful device that must be delivered into scoring zones. While the device grants players a radar pulse to track enemies, developers confirmed that this feature is disabled in the Call of Duty League variant to ensure competitive balance. Depending on community and pro feedback, Overload could make its way into official CDL play when the league returns in December.
Zombies Returns with a Twist

Zombies mode has always been a cornerstone of the Black Ops series, and Black Ops 7 is set to push the mode forward with Ashes of the Damned, a new round-based map. Returning fan-favorite characters will team up with the Black Ops 6 squad to face dangerous new undead enemies. For the first time, players will also be able to use the Wonder Vehicle, an upgradable transport that doubles as a deadly tool for mowing down hordes.
Warzone Expands with Fresh Content
Warzone fans can expect big changes starting with the Season 1 update. Haven’s Hollow, a brand-new Resurgence map, joins the rotation alongside Rebirth Island and Verdansk. Verdansk itself is receiving new points of interest with a Signal Station and a reimagined Factory. While no large-scale map will arrive at launch, 2026 promises major updates including the return of the Avalon map and Ranked Play.
Raven Software also pledged to deliver more frequent balance updates, ensuring the weapon meta stays fresh and competitive. Activision teased a “bold new experience” inspired by Blackout, the franchise’s original battle royale, which will arrive in Spring 2026.
COD Mobile Keeps Evolving

COD Mobile, one of the franchise’s most downloaded titles with over 650 million installs, also got major announcements. Developers revealed night versions of classic maps Hackney Yard, Summit, and Crash, alongside refreshed visuals and smoother animations. The biggest news was the reveal of DMZ: Recon, a new extraction mode inspired by the DMZ experience from Modern Warfare 2, promising intense tactical action for mobile players.
A Showcase of the Future
COD Next 2025 has set the stage for what looks to be one of the most ambitious years in Call of Duty history. With Black Ops 7 leading the charge, Warzone reshaping its competitive landscape, and COD Mobile pushing new boundaries, the franchise continues to evolve while keeping fans excited across platforms.
