The battlegrounds are buzzing with anticipation as the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024 gears up to commence on April 4. With a staggering prize pool of ₹2 crore on the line, thousands of teams are set to clash in what promises to be an epic showdown. In a significant shift from tradition, Krafton has introduced a 10-point scoring system for this year's tournament, a departure from the 15-point structure that governed previous competitions.
This new scoring format is poised to inject a dose of adrenaline into the matches, encouraging teams to adopt a more aggressive playstyle. Given that each kill awards one point, the emphasis on aggressive gameplay is expected to rise, with teams striving for eliminations to maximize their point tally.
Here’s how the points will break down in each match under the 10-point system:
- 1st Place: 10 points
- 2nd Place: 6 points
- 3rd Place: 5 points
- 4th to 6th Place: Gradually decreasing from 4 to 2 points
- 7th & 8th Place: 1 point each
- 9th to 16th Place: No points for placements
Match Parameters:
The BGIS 2024 will stick to the tried and true Third Person Perspective (TPP) mode, spanning across four iconic maps: Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, and Vikendi. To ensure a level playing field, sound visualization and aim assist will be disabled, while red zones and flare guns won't make an appearance in this series. Meanwhile, weapon and gear spawns will see a boost, with all weapons, scopes, and magazines spawning at twice their normal rate.
Tournament Phases:
The tournament's structure is meticulously designed to whittle down the competition across seven phases, starting with The Grind. Here, 256 invited teams will vie for a spot among the 64 teams advancing to the main tournament. Following the in-game qualifier, the top 1024 teams will proceed to Round 1, each step closer to the coveted Grand Finals, set to be an offline event from June 28 to 30.
As teams register and prepare for the kickoff, the BGIS 2024 is shaping up to be a battleground where strategy meets aggression, all vying for glory and a share of the massive prize pool. The shift to a 10-point scoring system is sure to bring new dynamics to the competition, making this edition one to watch closely.
