Expected Start Date

BGIS 2024 is expected to kick off in the third or fourth week of March 2024.

Format and Rules

  • Points System: The event is likely to adopt a 10-point system for awarding position points, aligning with the global esports scene meta. Previously, teams received 15 points for securing a chicken dinner.
  • Zone Meta: Changes in zone sizes, time, and other aspects are expected to be based on the global scene's meta.
  • Player Transfer Window: BGIS 2024 will introduce a player transfer window, enabling teams to exchange or trade players with other organizations. This move aims to address issues of player poaching experienced in previous tournaments.

Qualification

At least the top 24 teams from the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2023 event are expected to be invited to participate in The Grind event, which serves as the qualifying event for BGIS tournaments. The number of teams participating in The Grind event increased from 128 teams to 256 teams in 2023 due to heightened competition among Tier 1 teams and emerging teams.

Impact of BGMI's Growth

BGMI's resurgence, following its unbanning in May 2023, has led to increased activity in the Indian esports scene. Krafton's successful organization of BGMI LAN events in 2023, including BGIS, India-Korea Invitational, and BMPS, has set the stage for another successful season in 2024. BGIS 2024 is expected to capitalize on this momentum and deliver an exciting event for players and fans alike.
