A Landmark Collaboration For Esports In India

Skyesports, one of India’s biggest names in esports and gaming communities, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies. The partnership was formalised at the Annual General Meeting of the Indian Digital Gaming Society, which has now been rebranded as the Indian Digital Gaming and Esports Society, reflecting the country’s sharper focus on esports as part of the AVGC XR sector.
Building Careers Through Education And Training
The MoU is designed to create strong academic industry linkages and open pathways for students to step into the fast growing esports world. Skyesports and IICT will collaborate to design structured esports curriculum covering tournament management, production, game strategy, shout casting, and player well being. Students will also gain real world exposure through internships, volunteering, and live projects at esports events.
Joint Events And Research For Responsible Growth
The partnership goes beyond classrooms. Skyesports and IICT will co host tournaments, hackathons, and innovation challenges to discover new talent. They will also conduct research into the socio economic impact of esports and support policies that encourage responsible and sustainable growth of the industry. With esports rapidly becoming a mainstream career option, these steps are crucial to positioning India as a leader on the global stage.
Infrastructure And Start Up Support
Another key aspect of the collaboration is guiding the development of esports infrastructure such as arenas, broadcast studios, and gaming labs. The MoU also creates opportunities for budding entrepreneurs, with mentorship, industry connections, and visibility for gaming and esports start ups. This holistic approach ensures not just player development but the overall ecosystem’s expansion.
Voices Behind The Vision
Commenting on the agreement, Skyesports Founder and CEO Shiva Nandy said that the mission has always been to create opportunities, from grassroots tournaments to working with governments on inclusive policies. He emphasized that the collaboration with IICT is the next step in bringing esports into academia and creating sustainable careers. Dr Vishhwas Deosskar, CEO of IICT, highlighted that aligning education with emerging industries is the future and this partnership gives students access to hands on learning and global opportunities.
A Step Toward Global Leadership

The agreement will initially run for one year with an option for extension. It builds on Skyesports’ long history of grassroots tournaments and collaborations with governments, such as the Chief Minister’s Trophy in Tamil Nadu and the Chennai Esports Global Championship. By bringing esports into education formally, India takes a major leap toward becoming not just a participant but a leader in the global esports ecosystem.
