Riot Games has confirmed that no disciplinary action will be taken against BBL Esports player Dawid “PROFEK” Święc following an investigation into a controversial video from 2022. In the video, which recently resurfaced on social media, PROFEK was seen using offensive language during a ranked match.
The key reason behind Riot’s decision is that the incident took place before PROFEK was a professional competitor in the Valorant esports scene. Riot stated that since the actions occurred outside the scope of its Esports Global Code of Conduct, the player cannot be punished under current competitive guidelines. However, the company emphasized that it reserves the right to reopen the case if new evidence or information emerges in the future.
PROFEK Responds to Riot’s Decision
Following Riot’s statement, PROFEK addressed the controversy publicly and issued an apology on social media. He acknowledged his past mistakes, explaining that the video was from his teenage years and does not reflect who he is today.
“First of all, I want to apologise for my past actions when I was a teenager,” PROFEK wrote. “After four years, I have grown a lot as a person and I understand my horrible mistakes. I sincerely apologise to everyone I have offended. I also want to thank my friends and BBL fans who supported me during this situation.”
The apology was met with mixed reactions from the Valorant community. Some fans expressed support for the player’s growth and maturity, while others voiced frustration over Riot’s decision not to issue any punishment.
Riot’s Initial Response and Investigation Timeline
Riot first acknowledged the situation on August 30 when the video began circulating online. At the time, the developer confirmed it was “aware of the video” and had launched an internal investigation. Despite the ongoing inquiry, PROFEK was allowed to continue competing with BBL Esports in the VCT EMEA league.
This meant that the player remained active throughout Stage 2 of the tournament, where BBL Esports eventually placed third after a loss to GIANTX in the Lower Bracket Finals.
BBL Esports Misses Out on Valorant Champions 2025
Despite PROFEK’s continued presence on the roster, BBL Esports failed to qualify for Valorant Champions 2025 in Paris. The team fell short in the Championship Point standings, finishing outside the top two spots required for advancement.
Reflecting on this, PROFEK admitted that the controversy and emotions surrounding the situation impacted his ability to perform at his best. “The most disappointing thing for me was the last game against GIANTX. I could not be there for the team. The emotions in that moment were extremely difficult for me to handle, and it stopped me from helping the team like I always did in every match.”
Looking Ahead
For now, PROFEK remains an active competitor in the Valorant scene with no penalties imposed by Riot Games. While the controversy has placed a spotlight on the player’s past actions, it has also raised important discussions about accountability, personal growth, and the boundaries of esports regulations.
As BBL Esports continues to rebuild after missing out on Champions qualification, PROFEK will be closely watched both for his in-game performances and for how he handles his second chance under Riot’s ruling.
