A Step Toward Transparency

Esports Charts, the leading analytics platform for competitive gaming, has launched its Media Value metric as a free and open access tool. This new feature provides an easy way to calculate and compare the sponsorship value of tournaments across multiple regions and audiences, bringing greater transparency to the esports ecosystem.
According to Viktor Proniakin, Product Manager at Esports Charts, this launch marks a pivotal step forward. He explained that making Media Value publicly available allows anyone to see a clear benchmark for sponsorship potential. The tool is designed not only to benefit fans but also to help organisers, sponsors, and stakeholders understand market dynamics better and make more informed decisions.
How Media Value Works

The Media Value system calculates the cost of a standard one percent on screen banner shown throughout an entire broadcast. Factors such as total viewership, broadcast duration, regional advertising rates, and logo visibility are all considered to generate the final metric.
For example, Esports Charts revealed that The International 2024, one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments in the world, achieved a Media Value exceeding 23 million dollars across 23 languages. Spanish language broadcasts alone contributed over 183,000 dollars, underlining the regional depth of sponsorship potential.
Expanding Influence In 2025
The Media Value launch is the latest in a string of major moves from Esports Charts this year. The platform has continued to expand its influence by adding innovative tools and striking high profile partnerships. Earlier this month, it worked with betting brand GG.BET to release the Esports Map, an interactive global tracker of tournament popularity.
Esports Charts has also secured roles as the official viewership analytics partner for major competitions, including the StarLadder StarSeries Season 19 for Counter Strike 2. Beyond events, the platform has extended its data partnerships with top organisations, such as Brazilian powerhouse FURIA, through 2027. Even outside traditional esports, Esports Charts has collaborated with the popular geography game GeoGuesser, providing data on upcoming tournaments.
Why This Matters

By offering Media Value for free, Esports Charts has lowered the barrier for industry stakeholders and fans to access valuable commercial insights. This democratization of data is likely to influence how sponsorships are evaluated and negotiated, providing a stronger foundation for esports’ continued global growth.
As esports becomes increasingly commercialised, tools like Media Value are set to play a critical role in ensuring fair benchmarks and transparent decision making. For fans, it also adds a new layer of understanding when following their favourite tournaments.
