Complexity has announced its exit from Counter-Strike 2, effectively bringing to an end its two-decade-long journey in one of the most competitive esports arenas. The shocking news was delivered by Founder and CEO Jason Lake in a heartfelt video message released on August 19, 2025.

Since acquiring its first roster in 2004, Complexity has been a permanent fixture in the Counter-Strike scene. The departure coincides with four of Complexity’s players transferring to Passion UA, the Ukrainian organization owned by football star Oleksandr Zinchenko. This move marks a reunion with long-time coach T.c and veteran in-game leader Johnny ‘JT’ Theodosiou, preserving a sense of continuity for the roster even as Complexity bows out.

Lake was candid about the economic challenges behind the decision. “We turned over every rock, we tried everything we could, but the environment has been incredibly difficult,” he explained. Despite the exit, Complexity will honor its current commitments, including participation in the PrizePicks Revival Series, maintaining at least some presence in the Counter-Strike community before fully stepping away.
