The recent PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 European RMRs (A, B, and Decider) have made history as the most-watched series of regional RMRs in Counter-Strike’s history. As the American RMR concluded on March 5, we can now examine the viewership received by all regional events.

Viewership Breakdown of Individual RMR Events for PGL Major Copenhagen 2024

The European RMR B tournament became the most-watched singular RMR event ever, amassing 8.84 million hours watched. While no other tournament in this series could surpass this record, other regions saw growth compared to previous RMRs.

The increased popularity of the European RMR B was largely attributed to Team Spirit's presence, particularly during their matches, which garnered significant viewership. Team Spirit recently gained recognition among CS fans after their impressive performance and victory at IEM Katowice 2024.

The American RMR garnered 4.02 million hours watched and generated 251.6 thousand peak viewers during the match between Complexity Gaming and FURIA Esports. Complexity Gaming consistently draws high viewership at RMR events, despite not being the most established North American esports organization.

FURIA Esports also received substantial viewership, largely due to the support of Brazilian Counter-Strike broadcaster Gaules, who significantly contributed to the event’s watch time. However, other Brazilian-majority teams at the event did not achieve similar viewership levels.

In the Asia-Pacific RMR, 475.5 thousand hours watched and 36.2 thousand peak viewers were recorded during the lower bracket final between China’s Lynn Vision Gaming and Australia’s Grayhound Gaming. While Mongolian viewership remained strong, the absence of English-speaking Australian teams at the upcoming major may impact viewership diversity.

Total Viewership Comparison to Previous RMR Cycles

When totaling the viewership of all RMR events, the recent PGL Major Copenhagen RMRs emerged as the most-watched RMRs ever for Counter-Strike, marking an 18.2% increase in watch time compared to the previous cycle for the BLAST.tv Paris Major.

The PGL Major Copenhagen RMRs garnered 22.1 million hours watched in total, surpassing previous RMR event records. This bodes well for the upcoming major tournament, with the potential to compete with the most-watched major ever, the PGL Major Stockholm 2021.
