HEROIC has officially brought back Swedish CS2 talent Linus ‘nilo’ Bergman into its starting lineup, completing the team’s refreshed roster ahead of an important stretch in the 2025 season. This move comes as the organisation looks to rebuild after a turbulent few months, including roster changes and a disappointing finish at the Austin Major.
The 20 year old player rejoins HEROIC after spending the first half of the year on the roster of Metizport. Although he was part of that organisation, nilo did not make any official appearances due to personal circumstances that kept him away from active competition. His return signals not only a new chapter for him but also a pivotal moment for HEROIC’s plans moving forward. Known for his sharp mechanical skills and confident presence, nilo was previously a rising figure in the European Counter Strike circuit and his reentry is seen as a move to solidify the squad’s core.
His return comes during a time of significant changes. Following the conclusion of the Austin Major, two key players, Alvaro ‘SunPayus’ Garcia and Eetu ‘sAw’ Saha, transferred to G2 Esports, creating an urgent need for HEROIC to restructure. To fill the gap, the organisation has also brought in Gleb ‘gr1ks’ Gazin, a promising AWPer who previously competed under the banners of Aurora Gaming and Astrum. With the inclusion of gr1ks and the reinstatement of nilo, HEROIC has also decided to bench Yasin ‘xfl0ud’ Koç, reshuffling its active lineup in preparation for upcoming tournaments.
Despite some setbacks earlier in the year, HEROIC’s performance has remained largely consistent. The team clinched titles at the Nomadic Spring Masters and the CCT Season 2 Global Finals, establishing itself as one of Europe’s elite forces in Counter Strike 2. However, their exit during Stage 2 of the Austin Major exposed weaknesses that now need addressing. The restructured lineup provides a clean slate to approach the rest of the competitive calendar with renewed focus.
Looking ahead, HEROIC is set to compete in the FISSURE Playground Number One tournament from July 15 to 20. This event will be the team’s first major outing with the new roster and offers an opportunity to test its synergy and performance under pressure. Shortly after that, the team will also participate in IEM Cologne, one of the most prestigious events on the Counter Strike calendar. Both tournaments will be critical in assessing whether the roster changes pay off and whether HEROIC can reclaim its top tier status in international play.
For fans and analysts, all eyes will be on nilo. His return is being viewed not just as a comeback but as a potential catalyst for a strong second half of the year. With experience, raw talent, and a hunger to prove himself, he could very well be the missing link HEROIC needs to regain momentum and push for international titles once again.
